The following issues might be encountered in the latest General and Beta releases.

OK button in the template dialog

For certain templates displayed on laptops and other small screens, the "OK" button is below the bottom of the screen, and the window cannot be resized enough to show it. In this case, move the window to an external monitor.

Graphics on bare metal

Digital print or silkscreen cannot be applied to bare metal finishes, but Designer does not currently prevent you from doing this.

Unable to select a Path line

You cannot select or delete a line drawn with the Path tool. To fix the problem, open the Part tree, expand each item until you find the offending line, and delete it using the Delete or Backspace key.

Installing Designer on a Mac OSX Mountain Lion

If you receive an error message that ProtocaseDesigner is damaged and can't be opened and that you should move it to the Trash, it is because Protocase Designer has not been registered with Apple. To resolve this problem, do the following and then install:

  1. In System Preferences > Security & Privacy, set Allow applications downloaded from: to "Anywhere".
  2. Click the lock icon in the bottom left corner that reads "Click the lock to make changes."
  3. Start Protocase Designer.
  4. Once Designer is running, reset the Apple system security in step 1 to "Mac App Store and identified developers".
Note that you need to do this before any Designer installion (new installation or upgrade).

Opening an Extruded Aluminum enclosure file

If you use Designer Designer 4.4.x to open an extruded aluminum enclosure design that was created in Designer 4.3, a dialogue prompts you to either update the file or not. If you choose to not update, the loaded file will be missing the extruded sides of the enclosure. To avoid this issue, choose "Update file" at the prompt.
