How do I get started with Protocase Designer?

For a description of Protocase Designer, who uses it, how it works, and how you can get started, see Learn More

How do I zoom in the 3D View?

If your pointing device has a wheel, rotate it to zoom. If your pointing device does not have a wheel, open the Face Editor and use the Zoom In and Zoom Out buttons on the toolbar or the Zoom commands in the View menu. See Zooming.

If a PEM is specified as 0.5” long, is this referenced to the inner or outer wall of the material that the PEM is placed through?

All PEMs except concealed head fasteners and nuts are fully inserted into the hole. If a PEM is .5" long, it will stick out .5" minus the thickness of the material.

What should I do if an error is displayed when I choose Order or Check Design?

Click the Display Error button. The Face Editor will open and the error will be highlighted. Or, if nothing appears to be highlighted, look in the context properties panel on the righthand side of the screen. The item might be highlighted in the list, and if its coordinates show very high values (such as Origin(X): 981.252 and Origin(Y): 371.757), it is placed way outside the enclosure, and off the screen. You can correct the coordinates if it is supposed to be in the design, or you can delete it by pressing the Delete key (because it was already selected, when you pressed Display Error).
