Error message when installing Protocase Designer on a Mac OSX Mountain Lion

Synopsis
You receive an error message that ProtocaseDesigner is damaged and can't be opened and that you should move it to the Trash.
Analysis
Protocase Designer has not been registered with Apple.
Resolution
Register Protocase Designer with Apple as follows:

  1. In System Preferences > Security & Privacy, set Allow applications downloaded from: to "Anywhere".
  2. Click the lock icon in the bottom left corner that reads "Click the lock to make changes."
  3. Start Protocase Designer.
  4. Once Designer is running, reset the Apple system security in step 1 to "Mac App Store and identified developers".

Erroneous "HomeDir" message

Synopsis
You receive the message "HomeDir config.ReadConfig(): somedirectory"
Analysis
Software defect. Fixed in version 4.4.9-Nov10.
Resolution
Upgrade your version of Protocase Designer to version 4.4.9-Nov10 or higher.
